A Chinese millionaire and Star Trek fan has surprised the landscape of Fujian province by recreating his offices in the shape of the USS Enterprise spaceship.
This architectural fantasy took 6 years to complete and cost around 147 million euros.
In parallel with its property development, China is increasingly practising "duplitecture", a trend that consists in reproducing historic monuments identically, as is the case in Hangzhou, where a 108-metre copy of the Eiffel Tower has been erected.
Now it's a symbol of the small screen. The businessman, a fan of the Star Trek series, has thought big with this replica of the famous spaceship, which covers an area 260 metres long and 100 metres wide.
Aged 43, Liu Dejin made his fortune in video games and has no shortage of funds to pay tribute to his TV series, with assets estimated at 545 million euros.
The building, with its large metal structures, has naturally been given the name "Enterprise".
In the run-up to the project, CBS, which owns the broadcasting rights to Star Trek, was consulted to guarantee that it would be able to build a replica of the Starship Enterprise. CBS initially thought it was a joke!
