Cran-Gevrier is a delegated municipality of Annecy, located near Poisy, Nonglard and Sillingy. With a population of around 18,000, known as the Gévriens or Cran-Gevriens, the town borders Meythet, Annecy and Seynod. The town covers 480 hectares at an altitude of between 445 and 525 metres, with the Thiou River running through it.

Cran-Gevrier offers a wealth of cultural facilities, including La Turbine, an interactive cultural centre housing a media library, cinema and science exhibitions. Near the school, the Renoir Library offers a vast selection of 15,000 books. The EPM Music School offers music courses and workshops for all ages, while the Ludothèque offers a play area for children, teenagers and adults. The Théâtre des Collines, with its three sites, is a venue for artists in residence and community initiatives. On the sports front, the Renoir sports complex offers a variety of pitches, while the Stade des Grèves is home to the Maison des Sports with a number of associations. Cross-country, bicross, mountain bike and kayak courses are also available.

In terms of heritage, the Sacré-Coeur church in Mosinges and the chapel in Gevrier bear witness to local history, as does the Brassilly turbine, part of a hydroelectric power station on the banks of the Thiou. Finally, Cran-Gevrier hosts two weekly markets and celebrates the annual Autumn Festival, showcasing the culinary and folk traditions of Haute-Savoie.
